I heard the other day that the average American will have sex with 8 different partners in their lifetime. This led to several questions...for both the men and women here.
1. What number of prior partners would make you say..I can't be with this person?
2. If your partner asks about you past "expierences do you tell the truth? Do you lie about? or do you tell them that in your past you were safe and other than that they don't need or really want to know more than that (my method)?

I can't stand people attaching their personal beliefs to others sexual habits. I know I sure as hell don't need lectures. I know people who reached 8 partners by the age of 16. So many things factor into peoples pasts that we don't see. We all have different personalities and want different things.
To answer your question I try to keep it generic with partners because basically, nothing kills the mood like the thought of having to live up to a handful of others.
Do I think 8 is enough to base a decision on about you what you want....No, not personally.

Xray Hello. In answer to your blog I will state one thing. Always tell the truth. Honesty is better swallowed then a web of lies. Also I believe that there is no set number on the amount of people you can be with. If you are playing safe and having fun, go4 it. If you are waiting for that right person, it will happen when you least expect it. Have a great day

I try not to be overly concerned unless the other person makes it an issue. I mean as long as the person was safe and responsible in their prior sexual activities I usually don't harp on it too much. Back in the day when I was still a virgin the idea of marrying a man that was also a virgin was romantic. But lets get real, I'm two kids away from being a virgin. (lol) So I don't set any unreasonable requirements for my partner with regard to their past sexual habits. However if the guy is inclined to talk about his past relationships and he has to use his toes to count his past lovers then I admit I would have a problem with it.

This blog had so many different ways it could have gone just from the topic line. how many beers is too many, how many women... these were the first two that ran through my mind :) Good to see I was almost floating along the right wave length. My lines, "I don't really count"... "you don't really want to know"... "Somewhere between this and that I imagine." which is usually off by a certain amount. When I was in Europe my girlfriend and I were out to dinner with two guys and the question came up--all in harmless flirty fun... yeah right... low and behold, as it seems to always happen one of the guys had been with less than 5 women. Great, kudos for you dude was what we were saying but after his confession the rest of us weren't about to fess up. I don't know about the other guy but my girlfriend and I conferred later that we had definitely toned it down. Where are they getting this average of 8 from?? How old are these people they are polling for goodness sakes?? Not that 8 isn't a great number, hell it is idea if you ask me, but is it realistic? I read once that the average age to loose your virginity is 15.5, so let's say you make it at least ten years without getting hitched--hopefully longer, that is ten years of sex with probably more than one person. even if it was only one different person a year... that is still ten on average right?? and what about those slutty years, doesn't everyone have the slutty years?? hahha, okay before anyone jumps on that, yes I know not everyone has the slutty years and bravo to you all-- BUT I can just about promise you that every single one of us knows someone who has lived the slutty years, right?? Where were these folks when they were taking the poll??
But back to Xray's specific inquiry... if your numbers are getting up there it is time to be a little bit more selective of course. It's not about I can't sleep with you because I meant my quota for the year, but rather are you worth another notch on the old bed post...the thing is starting to look like a tooth pick! Really by a certain time in life the frequent casual roll in the hay has lost most of its appeal and we are more focused on the long term, right? Still there is a time and place for everything I suppose. Point being there is no one number. I could pull any number out of the sky and that could be it, but what if your one special someone was just one number over that?? It doesn't matter how many people you slept with it only matters that you are only sleeping with that one person now and forever. (you could totally use that line the next time the question comes up. "Baby, who cares about the past--a number is just a number. All that matters is that I'm with you now and only you for the rest of time.")
